Full Job Description

Educato Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Wellbeing Support Worker to support secondary-aged pupils within an alternative provision in Rochdale. Young people who struggle to access mainstream education may also experience challenges with confidence, relationships, emotional regulation or their general wellbeing. This role focuses on providing consistent support, helping pupils develop positive coping strategies and encouraging them to engage with education. You'll work alongside the wider school team to create a supportive environment where pupils feel listened to, whilst maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and following safeguarding procedures. The role will involve:

  • Providing pastoral and wellbeing support to secondary-aged pupils.
  • Building positive relationships and offering guidance when pupils are experiencing difficulties.
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, communication skills and positive coping strategies.
  • Supporting pupils with social interactions, emotional regulation and conflict resolution.
  • Encouraging engagement with lessons, school routines and wider activities.
  • Identifying concerns and communicating appropriately with relevant members of staff.
  • Following school safeguarding policies and maintaining professional boundaries.

Has experience in pastoral support, youth work, mentoring, wellbeing or a related role.
  • Can communicate effectively with young people and build trusting relationships.
  • Is calm, approachable and able to respond sensitively to difficult situations.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.
  • Experience in alternative provision, SEMH, secondary education or supporting vulnerable young people would be beneficial. Relevant wellbeing or counselling qualifications may be required for specialist duties, depending on the position. At Educato, we work with schools and education settings across Greater Manchester and the North West. Our team brings together experience in education and recruitment, allowing us to understand the needs of both our candidates and the settings we work with. We'll take the time to understand your experience, talk you through the opportunity and provide support throughout your placement. If you're passionate about supporting young people's wellbeing and helping them overcome barriers to education, we'd love to hear from you at Educato.
