Full Job Description

We are currently seeking a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Hightown, Merseyside on a full-time basis, starting in September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to help create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every pupil can achieve their full potential. The Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and providing individual and small-group support to pupils across the primary age range. You will help create a positive learning environment, encourage pupil participation, and contribute to the academic, social, and emotional development of children. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils to reinforce learning and build confidence.
  • Assist with the preparation of classroom resources and learning activities.
  • Help maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support pupils with varying learning needs, adapting your approach where appropriate.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote the school's behaviour and safeguarding policies.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, displays, and general administrative tasks as required.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents to support children's progress and wellbeing.
  • Supervise pupils during break times, educational visits, and other school activities when required.

    Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare, or similar educational setting is desirable.
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is desirable but not essential.
  • A positive, patient, and supportive approach to working with children.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
