Full Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking to take on additional responsibility by supporting colleagues, leading small interventions, and working closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality provision for pupils with complex learning needs.,

  • Provide high-quality 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and learning difficulties.
  • Support the planning and delivery of personalised learning activities alongside the class teacher.
  • Act as a senior member of the classroom support team, modelling best practice and providing guidance to other teaching assistants where appropriate.
  • Implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), behaviour support plans, and individual learning programmes.
  • Promote pupils' communication, independence, emotional regulation, and social development.
  • Use visual supports and communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, visual timetables, or other AAC approaches where appropriate.
  • Support pupils with sensory regulation and help create a calm, structured learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, teachers, therapists, and external professionals.
  • Accurately record pupil progress and contribute to review meetings and planning discussions.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies are consistently followed.

    Have substantial experience supporting children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and learning difficulties within an educational or specialist setting.
  • Have experience implementing EHCP targets and supporting personalised learning programmes.
  • Be confident managing behaviours that challenge using positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
  • Be calm, patient, resilient, and committed to achieving positive outcomes for pupils.
  • Have the right to work in the UK and be available to work full-time., Level 3 (or above) Supporting Teaching & Learning, CACHE, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in a Senior Teaching Assistant or Lead Teaching Assistant role.
  • PECS, Makaton, AAC, or other communication training.
  • Team Teach, MAPA, PRICE, or similar positive behaviour support/de-escalation training.
  • Experience supporting pupils with sensory processing needs and personal care (where required).
