A supportive and inclusive school in Rochdale is seeking a resilient and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing
• Supporting emotional regulation and the development of positive coping strategies
• Implementing behaviour support plans and individual intervention strategies
• Assisting pupils to access learning and remain engaged throughout the school day
• Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour management techniques
• Supporting pupils during transitions, social interactions, and unstructured times
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, and external agencies
• Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

The Successful Applicant Will
• Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges, or additional needs
• Be calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations
• Have strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• Be able to build positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff
• Demonstrate a nurturing and proactive approach to supporting learning and wellbeing
• Have the right to work in the UK and full-time availability
Desirable:
• Experience within a SEMH school, alternative provision, PRU, or specialist setting
• Team Teach, MAPA, PRICE, or similar positive behaviour support training
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches
• Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification
• Experience supporting pupils with ADHD, ASC, attachment difficulties, or adverse childhood experiences
