Full Job Description

Educato are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Little Hulton, Salford. This is a split role, providing 1:1 SEN support to a KS1 pupil during the mornings, followed by general classroom support in the afternoons. The pupil requires additional support to manage the demands of a mainstream classroom and can struggle with emotional regulation, engagement and maintaining focus throughout the school day. The successful candidate will need to be calm, patient and confident in supporting children who may become dysregulated or find the classroom environment overwhelming. During the afternoons, you will work alongside the class teacher, supporting general classroom learning, small-group activities and pupils who require additional help. The Role: Morning - 1:1 SEN Support

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a KS1 pupil who finds the mainstream classroom challenging
  • Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement with learning
  • Helping the pupil manage transitions, classroom routines and expectations
  • Adapting activities to meet the child's individual learning needs
  • Using positive behaviour strategies to encourage engagement and participation
  • Building a consistent, trusting relationship with the pupil
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual support strategies
  • Afternoon - General Teaching Assistant
  • Supporting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities
  • Working with small groups and individual pupils across the curriculum
  • Delivering targeted interventions where required
  • Supporting pupils with phonics, reading, writing and numeracy
  • Helping maintain positive behaviour and classroom routines
  • Encouraging pupil independence and engagement in lessons

The successful candidate will ideally have:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school
  • Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly within KS1
  • Confidence managing challenging behaviour and supporting emotional regulation
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Good understanding of how to adapt learning for pupils with additional needs
  • Experience delivering small-group interventions and general classroom support
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to support wherever needed
  • Reliability and commitment to providing consistency for the pupil

    £112.58 per day
  • Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
  • Full-time position within a mainstream primary school
  • Varied role combining 1:1 SEN support and general classroom responsibilities
  • Opportunity to develop further experience supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant
