This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in SEN who is ready to take on additional responsibility. You will work closely with the SENCO to help coordinate support, guide other SEN Teaching Assistants and ensure consistent approaches are followed across the school. - Providing guidance and practical support to the wider team of SEN Teaching Assistants
- Helping ensure pupils receive consistent, individualised support in line with their needs and EHCP targets
- Supporting staff with strategies for autism, ADHD, communication difficulties and other additional needs
- Working alongside Teaching Assistants to develop effective approaches to behaviour and emotional regulation
- Supporting the implementation of individual support plans and appropriate classroom strategies
- Helping monitor pupil progress and identify areas where additional support may be needed
- Modelling good practice and promoting an inclusive learning environment
- Working collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO, parents and other professionals where appropriate
- Providing direct classroom and 1:1 support when required
The successful candidate will ideally have: - Significant experience working with children with SEN in a primary school setting
- A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification, ideally Level 3 or above
- Experience supporting or guiding other Teaching Assistants
- A strong understanding of SEND provision and inclusive teaching strategies
- Knowledge of EHCPs, individual support plans and SEN interventions
- Experience supporting pupils with needs such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties or SEMH
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
- The confidence to take initiative and support colleagues
- A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional regulation
- The ability to work closely with the SENCO and wider school leadership team
Full-time, Monday-Friday position - Working hours of 8:30am-3:30pm
- An opportunity to take on a senior role within a primary school
- The chance to support the development of both pupils and staff
- A varied role combining direct pupil support with wider SEN responsibilities
- Support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant
