Education ⫽ SEN Teaching Assistant Jobs

We're recruiting a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant in Bolton, supporting children who need additional help to access learning and participate fully in school life. If you've already worked in SEND, we'd absolutely like to hear from you. But if your experience comes from somewhere slightly different, keep reading. What Does an SEN Teaching Assistant Actually Do? You'll work alongside the class teacher rather than being expected to teach a class yourself. Some pupils may need additional help understanding an activity. Others may struggle to concentrate, communicate what they need or manage their emotions. A child might work brilliantly independently in one lesson and require much more support in another. Your job is to recognise what support is needed - without automatically doing everything for them. You'll:

• Provide 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs
• Work with small groups
• Explain or reinforce classroom activities
• Adapt resources under teacher guidance
• Help pupils remain engaged with learning
• Encourage communication and social interaction
• Support confidence and independence
• Reinforce appropriate behaviour and classroom routines
• Monitor progress and share observations with teachers
• Follow individual learning and support plans
• Work alongside teachers and other SEND professionals
Your Experience Might Be More Relevant Than You Think Perhaps you've coached children's sport and know how to explain the same skill five different ways. Maybe you've worked in a nursery or childcare setting. You might tutor, mentor teenagers, volunteer with a youth organisation or have recently graduated and want to build practical experience with children.

Previous SEN experience or relevant education qualifications would be advantageous, but we're also open to candidates with transferable experience and a genuine interest in developing within SEND education. £110 Per Day | Full-Time This is a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position in Bolton, paying £110 per day.

Full-Time | £110 per day Think you need years of Teaching Assistant experience to work in SEN? Not necessarily. Schools need experienced Teaching Assistants, of course. But they also need people who are good with children, able to explain things clearly, patient when something doesn't work first time and confident enough to adapt their approach when necessary. Those skills can be developed in plenty of places outside a school.
