Full Job Description

As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide personalised support throughout the school day. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties in both classroom and wider school activities
  • Assisting with personalised learning programmes tailored to individual needs and abilities
  • Supporting communication, sensory development, and physical wellbeing
  • Encouraging engagement, independence, and participation in learning
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver high-quality education and care
  • Providing personal care where required, ensuring every pupil is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion
  • Helping to maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

    We are seeking a caring and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist SEN school in Whitworth from September 2026. This full-time, long-term opportunity offers the chance to work within a highly supportive environment, helping pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) access education, develop essential life skills, and achieve their individual potential., We're looking for someone who is patient, compassionate, and committed to helping every pupil achieve their full potential., Experience supporting children or adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • A caring, empathetic, and positive approach
  • Confidence supporting individuals with complex learning, physical, or medical needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience in education, care, healthcare, support work, or a similar setting (desirable but not essential)

    Competitive daily rates of £102-£115, depending on experience
