Our client, a leading educational institution in North Shields, Borough of North Tyneside, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Autism Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team. With a competitive daily rate of £100, this is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the growth and well-being of individuals on the autism spectrum. As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will be at the forefront of shaping the educational experiences of students, fostering their intellectual, social, and emotional development. Your role will involve working closely with a team of experienced educators, therapists, and support staff to implement tailored learning strategies that cater to the unique needs of each student. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, including:

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with autism, ensuring they are actively engaged and making progress in their learning.
  • Assisting with the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour intervention plans, collaborating with teachers to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Facilitating social and communication skills development through structured activities and targeted interventions.
  • Supporting students in developing independent living skills, such as self-care, organisation, and task completion.
  • Collaborating with parents and guardians to provide consistent support and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills in working with individuals on the autism spectrum.
  • Maintaining detailed records and contributing to the assessment and monitoring of student progress.

To thrive in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in the field of autism education, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and strengths of individuals on the spectrum. Your ability to adapt your teaching style and communication approach to meet the diverse needs of students will be crucial. Additionally, you should have excellent problem-solving skills, patience, and a genuine passion for empowering individuals with autism to reach their full potential.
  • If you have a relevant educational background, such as a degree or diploma in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field, and previous experience working with children or adults with autism, we encourage you to apply. Your ability to work collaboratively, demonstrate creativity, and exhibit empathy will be highly valued in this position.
