Full Job Description

You will provide dedicated support to pupils with PMLD, complex learning needs, and additional physical and medical needs. Working closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team, you will help create a nurturing, engaging, and accessible learning environment where every pupil is supported to achieve their individual goals. The successful candidate will work on a 1:1 and small group basis, supporting pupils with communication, mobility, personal care, sensory development, and learning activities. A patient, caring, and adaptable approach is essential to help pupils build confidence, independence, and meaningful relationships.,

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD and complex needs.
  • Support pupils with personal care, mobility, feeding, and medical needs where required.
  • Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities and sensory-based learning.
  • Support communication development through appropriate strategies and resources.
  • Encourage pupils' independence, confidence, and engagement.
  • Implement individual support plans, EHCP targets, and personalised learning goals.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals, and families.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

    A welcoming and specialist SEN school in Old Trafford is seeking a dedicated and compassionate PMLD Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone with a strong passion for supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties within a specialist education setting.,
  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, PMLD, or complex needs.
  • Is caring, patient, and committed to supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Has experience supporting personal care and intimate care needs (desirable).
  • Is confident working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Has excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Is adaptable and willing to support pupils with a range of needs.
  • Has the right to work in the UK and is available full-time.
  • Desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience working within a specialist SEN school.
  • Knowledge of PMLD, severe learning difficulties (SLD), Autism (ASC), or complex medical needs.
  • Experience using sensory approaches and communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC.
  • Experience supporting pupils with mobility equipment or specialist resources.
  • Team Teach or other positive behaviour management training.
