Full Job Description

Looking for a role where you can support young people and make a real impact? If you're someone who enjoys helping others, building positive relationships, and supporting young people through challenges, a Learning Mentor role could be the perfect opportunity. We're currently working with a number of specialist schools across Farnborough and the surrounding areas, looking for compassionate and resilient individuals to join them as Learning Mentors on both flexible and long-term placements. No previous school experience is required. What matters most is your ability to connect with young people, remain calm in challenging situations, and provide consistent support to students who may need extra guidance emotionally or behaviourally. We'll provide training, support, and school experience to help you feel confident stepping into the role. What does a Learning Mentor do? As a Learning Mentor, you'll work closely with students who may need additional support to help them engage positively with school life. Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting students with emotional and behavioural needs (often SEMH)
  • Helping young people regulate emotions and build confidence
  • Developing strong and trusting relationships with students
  • Working alongside teachers, SEN teams, and pastoral staff
  • Providing a calm, encouraging, and reliable presence throughout the school day
  • This is a highly rewarding role where your support can genuinely change a young person's experience in education. Why choose this role? Being a Learning Mentor is about more than supporting behaviour - it's about helping students feel understood, supported, and able to succeed.

  • Emotional wellbeing support
  • Behaviour management
  • Pastoral care
  • SEN and SEMH support
  • It's also an excellent pathway into careers such as teaching, educational psychology, counselling, youth work, or pastoral support. Who this role would suit We'd especially like to hear from individuals with experience working with young people or supporting others, including:
  • Sports coaches
  • Psychology graduates
  • Youth workers
  • Support workers
  • Individuals from care or mentoring backgrounds

If you're approachable, resilient, patient, and able to build rapport, you could be a fantastic fit for this role.
  • What we offer
  • Flexible and long-term Learning Mentor opportunities
  • Weekly pay from £90-£100 per day (PAYE)
  • Free CPD training, including behaviour support and safeguarding
  • Opportunities to gain school experience before committing
  • Ongoing support from a friendly and supportive team
  • Safeguarding At Quokka Education, safeguarding is central to everything we do. All applicants will be vetted in line with Department for Education guidance, including an online search as part of the process. We'll support you throughout each stage so you know exactly what to expect. Interested? If you're looking for a meaningful role where you can support young people and build valuable experience, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today or get in touch for an informal chat. Know someone who'd be a great fit? We offer up to £150 for successful referrals.
