Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) to join the Lambeth Mental Health Support Team (MHST). You will work in a multi-disciplinary, early intervention service which aims to increase and improve mental health and wellbeing for the whole school community withing education settings for 5 - 18 year olds. The team is consists of multidisciplinary professionals who come from a variety of training backgrounds bringing in a wealth of experience and expertise. This includes: Systemic Family Therapist, Systemic Family Practitioners, Social Work, Education Psychologists, Arts Psychotherapists, Occupational Therapy, CBT Therapists, Senior Wellbeing Practitioner, Education Mental Health Practitioners, Quality Assurance and Communications Lead and Senior Administrative Support. Lambeth MHST is currently working with 61 education settings in the borough. This will increase to 100% coverage of all schools in Lambeth by 2030.Main duties of the job Education Mental Health Practitioners play a key role within Mental Health Support Teams. As a qualified practitioner, you will use your skills, knowledge, and experience to work autonomously, with appropriate supervision from senior staff, and in close collaboration with education and health colleagues. You will confidently deliver 1:1 low-intensity interventions using Guided Self-Help materials to support children, young people, and families experiencing anxiety, low mood, and behavioural challenges. You will also be able to deliver these interventions in a group format. You will work effectively with the wider network around the child, including education, social care, family, and health professionals. You will contribute to the Whole School Approach by supporting and facilitating a range of workshops and group interventions for the wider school community. You will support improved access to mental health and wellbeing services by working with diverse populations and adapting interventions to increase engagement, accessibility, and awareness of the service. The role requires working directly with schools and delivering interventions both face-to-face and remotely (e.g. via MS Teams).
