Chichester College, part of the Chichester College Group CC8467 Head of Learning - GCSE Maths & English/A Levels £56,552 - £61,803 per annum 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year A strategic leadership role at the heart of our academic provision Chichester College is seeking an exceptional and highly experienced senior education leader to take up the role of Head of Learning - GCSE Maths & English and A Levels. This is a critical appointment for the College, with strategic oversight of learning, teaching and outcomes for over 3,000 GCSE Maths and English students and more than 650 A Level students. This role sits at the centre of our quality, performance and curriculum strategy and will suit a candidate currently operating at Assistant Principal or equivalent senior leadership level, with a strong track record of raising standards, leading managers and delivering impact at scale. The role As Head of Learning, you will: Provide strategic and operational leadership for GCSE Maths
and English and the A Level provision, ensuring outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. Lead a large and high-profile curriculum area with responsibility for student outcomes, retention, achievement, progress and value added, including GCSE progress measures and A Level ALPs. Line manage two Teaching and Learning Managers, one with responsibility for GCSE Maths and English and one for A Levels, ensuring strong middle leadership, consistency of practice and continuous improvement. Lead the strategic development and growth of the A Level curriculum, aligning provision to curriculum intent, accountability agreements, Ofsted expectations and local priorities. Work collaboratively across the College Group to drive quality improvement, innovation and consistency in teaching, learning and assessment. Champion a coaching culture that supports staff development, reflection, innovation and professional growth. Represent the College positively with schools, parents, employers and external
stakeholders, strengthening the reputation of both the A Level offer and GCSE provision. You will be responsible for delivering agreed KPIs and contributing significantly to College-wide strategy, planning, self-assessment and quality assurance processes. What we are looking for This is a senior, influential leadership post and we are seeking an individual who brings: Substantial experience of leading GCSE Maths and English and/or A Level provision, ideally within a General FE or sixth form context. A proven record of raising standards in teaching, learning and assessment, securing strong student outcomes and value added. Experience of line managing other curriculum leaders or managers, with the ability to coach, challenge and inspire at scale. Strong knowledge of curriculum planning, funding, assessment frameworks, value-added measures (including ALPs) and regulatory requirements. Credibility and presence to operate confidently at senior leadership level, contributing to
strategic decision-making across the College. A deep commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, student engagement, safeguarding and high expectations for all learners. An innovative, forward-thinking approach with the confidence to lead change and improvement in a complex curriculum environment. You will hold a teaching qualification (Cert Ed/PGCE or equivalent), a relevant degree or equivalent experience, and have strong digital, analytical and leadership skills.
