Education & Careers Coordinator

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a passionate and proactive Education & Careers Coordinator to support children and young people across our Northamptonshire homes to access, engage with and succeed in education, training and employment.

The Role

This is a rewarding and varied role where you'll work directly with children and young people, residential teams, education providers and local authorities to ensure every young person is supported to reach their full potential.

You'll act as an advocate for education and career progression, helping young people access appropriate educational provision, explore future opportunities and make informed decisions about their next steps.

This is a peripatetic role, meaning you'll spend time visiting our children's homes across Northamptonshire, attending meetings with professionals and partners, building relationships with schools and training providers, and completing administration and reporting duties remotely when appropriate.

What You'll Do

+ Champion education, training and employment opportunities for children and young people in our care.
+ Support young people to access and engage in suitable education provision and ensure their educational entitlement is met.
+ Provide careers information, advice and guidance to help young people make informed decisions about their future.
+ Support applications for colleges, training courses, apprenticeships and employment opportunities.
+ Deliver ASDAN and other learning programmes within homes where required.
+ Attend professional meetings and advocate for the educational needs of young people.
+ Build strong relationships with schools, alternative provisions, local authorities, employers and training providers.
+ Support homes during Ofsted inspections by evidencing educational progress, engagement and achievement.
+ Maintain accurate records, reports and educational data across multiple services.
+ Provide advice and guidance to operational colleagues on education, training and employment matters.

+ Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area.
+ Minimum Level 2 qualification in Maths and English.
+ Experience working within an education, youth work, careers or children's services setting.
+ Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
+ Ability to engage, motivate and advocate for children and young people.
+ Strong organisational and administration skills.
+ Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
+ Knowledge of the educational needs of looked-after children and young people.
+ Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Desirable

+ Working towards, or willingness to work towards, a Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development.
+ Experience delivering ASDAN programmes or similar qualifications.
+ Knowledge of Department for Education guidance relating to looked-after children.
+ Understanding of Children's Homes Regulations and the Education Standard.
+ Experience working with children and young people in residential care.
