Full Job Description
As a EDS engineering Lead Engineer you will be confronted with technical challenges and will be responsible for attending meetings/reviews and addressing issues relevant to your commodity to best serve your customer groups such as Styling, SQA, Purchasing and Project Management teams as well as the end user, or customer. AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Responsible for CAD packaging of complete electrical system including sensors, controllers, switches, electrical modules, infotainment & speakers.
- DMU analysis of packaged EE components
- Designing of Mounting bracket, bezel, foam mount design for sensors, electrical modules.
- 2D drawing creation for brackets and other supporting parts created.
- Develop components packaging issues list and drive resolution prior to validation builds.
- Participate in Systems Design Reviews with respective groups prior to release, supplier DFM discussions.
- Experience of various change management processes like Engineering Change Requests etc.
- Release of CAD package into PLM system
- Quality concerns / issues: Analysis, containment, Root Cause analysis, 8D analysis, Countermeasures.
- VAVE idea generation and implementation. Initiate and support new idea generation avenues, benchmarking, support vehilce line tear down and idea generation.
- VAVE implementation: Should be able to work towards a cost target and create robusts product implementation plans. Represent & Report back into VAVE forums with necassary data, status and mitigation plans as necessary.
- Ensuring lessons are standardized in Cutomer specifications for future projects.
- Conducting proof of concepts, engaging with suppliers, working with cross finctional teams.
- Product development and project management of multiple engineering initiatives, with the specific aim of reducing the cost of the bought out component / assembly.
- To pick up, manage and deliver existing cost reduction engineering changes.
- To design, develop and investigate new engineering lead cost reduction proposals - Identification of new VA/VE ideas through supplier based workshops, leading teardown events, benchmarking and internal consultation.
- Manage projects within a cross functional team including PD, Purchasing, Quality and Cost Estimating departments.
- Develop, manage and present detailed timing plans to agreed deadlines.
- Agree and execute appropriate DFMEA and DVP requirements for all projects involving significant design change.
- Introduction of engineering change onto current car, following standard process of line trial prior to production release.
- Contribute to commercial & design roadmap reviews with management team, ensuring latest status is reported.
- Maintain effective internal & external communication with other departments & suppliers.
- Represent the department at periodic presentations to Directors, Chief Engineers and senior managers.
· Must be proficient in CAD platforms: Catia V5. · Engineering knowledge & Experience of activities (EE integration, DFMEA for passenger Vehicles) · Exposure to wire harness and GD&T would be added advantage. · Excellent communications skills, demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels. · PC Literacy: CAD review systems, Power Point, Excel, Word etc. · Experience in using engineering tools FMEA, DFM, DFA, Six Sigma, problem resolution etc. · Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering discipline with an experience of 5+ years in automotive industry or equivalent experience.Experience with PPAP/PSW. · Experience of cost reduction initiatives, tools and techniques desirable. · Educated to Engineering Degree level or equivalent. · Extensive experience within automotive product development, ideally with responsibility for a range of components. · Good general commercial awareness, ideally with some negotiating experience. · Self-motivated, with ability to motivate others to achieve personal objectives. · Passionate about continuous improvement, especially in context of cost reduction and personal development. · Experienced user of Microsoft Office. · Awareness of latest manufacturing processes / techniques for a variety of materials and designs. · The successful candidate must be a team player and be able to work closely within a small team. · Excellent communications skills with ability to present at senior levels of the organisation.
