Full Job Description

The Emergency Capabilities Unit Education department is responsible for the national delivery of education for the following capabilities; CBRN, MTA & Mass Casualty, Conventional Rescue, Command and Control . The ECU Education Programme Manager will manage a portfolio which is responsible for the delivery of education for several of these capabilities and look to support the delivery of education within the EPRR environment. They will work closely with the Consultant Paramedic (Head of Education) to develop the delivery of education nationally and ensure that ECU Education meets their commissioned work streams each year., o The post holder will provide managerial and leadership support to the programmes function of the department and lead the development of all recognised formal education under ECU to ensure courses remain current in line with best practice.o Take a key role in continuous improvement and development activity, contributing to developing new practices that will lead, through education, learning and personal/career development, to both improved patient care and staff job satisfaction and welfare.o As a member of ECU, the post holder will be actively involved in promoting best clinical practice within the Service., Our strategy 2023-2028 outlines how we plan to achieve this, and is centred upon three missions focused on:

  • Masters or equivalent experience
  • Full driving licence, valid in the UK and no more than 3 penalty points
  • Evidence of continuous personal and career development
  • Practising and current HCPC/NMC registered paramedic or registered Nurse /Midwife, Working in Educational / Training Services
  • Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience of managing, developing and motivating staff in a team context
  • Experience of influencing at a senior managerial level
  • Experience of engaging effectively with internal and external stake holders
  • Expertise in developing policies and procedures to influence both inter and intra departmentally working practices
  • Evidence of research into education methods and pedagogy
  • Evidence of proficiency in using software and digital technology including mobile and social media platforms to support education and clinical practice
  • Experience conducting highly complex investigations and writing re ports that may include sensitive or contentious information
  • Ambulance, emergency service or health service experience
  • Experience of working with digital technologies including mobile / electronic learning apps such as TOTARA, ESR / OLM, GRS, EPCR, UCP, MiDOS, MPDS and ADASTRA
  • Experience of working in teams to deliver programmes and projects of work which involve change, Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to speak / present in public
  • Ability to work effectively across departmental and professional boundaries
  • Ability to employ the full range of leadership / managerial skills in providing empowerment and support to individuals and teams
  • Ability to identify, plan and prioritise own work
  • Ability to manage outcomes and deliver to deadlines without compromising performance
  • Highly developed approach to receive and interpret complex, sensitive or contentious information and formulate plans for action as a result
  • Demonstrate ability to work with highly complex information including analysing service and organisational data that my change rap idly
  • Ability to implement and influence the development of departmental service plans
  • Demonstrable commitment to both professional and personal quality and standards
  • Formulate short, medium & long term strategic education plans across the Trust and create a compelling vision for the future and communicate this throughout the organisation
  • Demonstrable networking skills and the ability to identify and engage key stakeholders
  • Highly skilled in presenting to small and large groups, ensuring the information is understood
  • Ability to be flexible depending on the circumstances and requirements of the Trust
  • Develop policies and procedures for necessary service development
  • IT literate with good knowledge of MS word, excel and power point
  • Commitment to the provision of safe, high quality and effective patient care
  • Ability to chair working groups and committees
  • Knowledge of all Trust clinical guidelines, drug regimes and patient care pathways
