Full Job Description
We require an ambitious, intellectually rigorous Economics Teacher to deliver high-quality economics and business instruction across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. The role involves facilitating a challenging, case-study-driven academic curriculum that deepens macro and microeconomic analysis, financial literacy, and global market understanding, preparing pupils thoroughly for terminal public examinations and future professional pathways.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Curriculum Design & Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver highly structured, evidence-based economics lessons that challenge pupils across all technical and academic abilities.
Economic Theory Analysis: Teach complex market mechanisms, fiscal policies, international trade dynamics, and financial systems by decoding real-world economic indicators and contemporary global events.
Academic Progress Monitoring: Implement rigorous formative and summative assessment routines, utilising pupil tracking data to design sharp, targeted interventions that bridge learning gaps.
Examination Preparation: Guide exam cohorts systematically through the technical demands of GCSE Business, BTEC Enterprise, and A-Level Economics specifications, maximising outcomes for all learners.
Pastoral Care Integration: Undertake full form tutor responsibilities, managing daily registration, monitoring pupil attendance, and delivering the school's structured personal development units.
ENVIRONMENT & STRUCTURE
Comprehensive Academy Framework: Operating within a forward-thinking academy structure, our school combines strong local community integration with a robust, data-led approach to student progress, providing collaborative department planning and targeted professional development pathways.
Behaviour Systems: The campus implements highly consistent, whole-school behaviour routines that maintain an orderly, professional, and productive atmosphere, ensuring classrooms remain calm, predictable, and exceptionally well-optimised for academic study.
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Economics, Finance, Business Studies, or a closely related commercial discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress outcomes in terminal GCSE, BTEC, and A-Level examinations through explicit, highly engaging pedagogy.
Routine Implementation: The ability to execute school behaviour and pastoral policies with absolute consistency, establishing a warm, professional, and high-expectation classroom culture.
