Economic Crime Core Investigator

As a Core Investigator, you'll join our Business & Commercial Banking Economic Crime Prevention team, investigating Transaction Monitoring alerts and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs). Through intelligence-led investigations, you'll assess economic crime risk, support key customer relationship decisions and help ensure the Bank meets its regulatory obligations. Day to day, you'll:

• Conduct intelligence-led investigations using internal and external data sources.
• Analyse customer activity, transactional behaviour and due diligence information to identify and assess economic crime risk.
• Make risk-based decisions on case outcomes, escalations and customer relationships.
• Prepare regulatory disclosures where required.
• Manage investigations within agreed quality standards and service level expectations.
• Work collaboratively to share knowledge and improve processes.

• A minimum of 2 years' experience conducting Transaction Monitoring or Economic Crime investigations within a financial services or law enforcement environment.
• Good working knowledge of relevant UK financial crime legislation and regulation, including the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), Money Laundering Regulations (MLRs) and Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements.
• Strong knowledge of economic crime risks and money laundering typologies, including the ability to identify suspicious activity and articulate associated concerns.
• Proven experience analysing complex transactional data, customer information and intelligence to support risk-based decision making.
• Experience conducting investigations, including customer due diligence, intelligence gathering and open-source research, and making clear, evidence-based recommendations.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, produce clear evidence-based outputs and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
And any experience of these would be really useful:
• Understanding of Business & Commercial Banking customers, including complex business structures, higher-risk industries and cross-border activity.
• Professional Financial Crime qualifications such as ICA, ACAMS or equivalent.
