Full Job Description

Introduction

The Early Years Practitioner Level 2 apprenticeship is designed for individuals who want to begin a career working with children from birth to age 5 in a range of early years settings. It focusses on developing practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to support children’s learning, development, and care in line with the EYFS.

About the Employer

Family is everything! We are family owned, offering a home from home environment so that your little one feels safe and secure always. We welcome all owls from 3 months old right up until they go to school. We also offer a before and after school club with pick ups and drop offs to and from our local schools. To us every owl is an individual and is treasured and nurtured as such.

What You'll Do

Early Years Practitioners work directly with children daily, supporting purposeful play, learning activities, and care routines. They operate under the guidance of more qualified staff such as Early Years Educators or teachers.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Supporting child‑initiated and adult‑led activities
  • Helping to deliver educational and play programmes
  • Ensuring children feel safe, secure, and well‑cared‑for
  • Assisting with routine care (feeding, toileting, personal care)
  • Observing, assessing, and contributing to children’s development records
  • Building positive relationships with families and other professionals (e.g., health visitors, speech and language therapists)
