DSU Recovery Practitioner

If you could work as part of a multidisciplinary professional team to provide high standards of care individualised acer for the people who use our services whilst maintaining privacy and dignity at all times, then this is the role for you. You will provide high quality nursing care for all patients on the day case pathway and provide safe immediate post operative care to a wide range of both adult and paediatric patients undergoing a variety of day surgery procedures in primary recovery. To ensure high standards of patient care is given in accordance with agreed policies and procedures. To adhere to all theatre and Trust policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients' visitors and staff to maintain quality standards. Understand the roles and responsibilities regarding safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and have a responsibility to access training., Safe care of a patient post anesthetic including:

• care of the airway.
• pain management.
• wound care.
• Being aware of immediate post operative complications.
• responding to the needs of the deteriorating patient.
• Reassuring anxious or confused patients
• Good communication with all members of the day surgery team
  
  Torbay day surgery is recognised locally and nationally as a centre of excellence we work very closely with the whole multi-disciplinary team and our very proud of the service we provide and our outcomes.
We get regular positive feedback from patients who comment on the friendly atmosphere which we try to promote for our patients and our staff. The variety of care in day surgery means there are learning opportunities and further training. Many staff work in more than one area of the unit and enjoy the challenge. Day surgery is changing and growing across the NHS and in Torbay we push boundaries, we have close links with The British Association of Day Surgery and our always looking for ways to improve our current pathways and take on new challenges.
