Full Job Description
Ormiston Horizon Academy is seeking to appoint a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. The role is offered working 2.5 days (18.5 hours) per week, with working hours and days to be discussed at interview. The DSL and Deputy DSLs will take lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school. They will take part in the strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings and contribute to the assessment of children. They will advise and support other members of staff on child welfare and child protection matters and liaise with relevant agencies, such as the Local Authority and police. Some safeguarding activities may be delegated to deputies, although the DSL will retain lead responsibility for the work of the deputies and will ensure it is completed to the highest standard. The DSL and Deputy DSLs will liaise regularly to monitor and action all safeguarding matters and concerns. In the absence of the DSL, the DDSL will, in consultation with the Vice Principal in charge of safeguarding, assume lead responsibility for all safeguarding matters.
