Full Job Description
As an Adult Social Care Driver, you will play a key role in helping individuals stay connected to their communities by providing safe, reliable transport. You will work closely with Passenger Assistants and the leadership team to deliver a person-centred service, supporting adults with a range of needs to access day services and community opportunities. This is a hands-on, varied role where you will build positive relationships with passengers and contribute to their safety, comfort and wellbeing on every journey.
You will be a reliable, flexible and caring individual with a full driving licence and experience of safe driving. You'll bring strong communication skills, a positive attitude and a commitment to supporting adults with diverse needs. You will be confident using digital systems, able to adapt to changing situations and comfortable carrying out the physical aspects of the role. A proactive approach, respect for others and a commitment to continuous learning are key to success.
Wigan Council has been voted 'Overall Council of the Year' at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.
The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.
Join our Adult Transport Team and be part of a supportive, values-driven service that puts people first. At Team Wigan, we are committed to collaboration, inclusion and making a real difference every day. You will work within a friendly team where your contribution is valued, with opportunities for ongoing development and training. This is a rewarding role where you can take pride in helping others maintain independence and access the support they need.
