FULL-TIME ASSISTANT HEADTEACHER REQUIRED RESPONSIBLE FOR SEND/INCLUSION TO JOIN OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Leadership Scale L8 - L12 currently £71,327 - £77,691

Required from September, 2026

The Governors are seeking to appoint an inspirational leader with the vision and determination to continue to keep Downderry an outstanding school. We have a strong team and want you to join us. National Professional Qualification for SENCOs (NPQ SENCO) is required.

Working closely with the Senior Leadership team you will lead and develop high quality inclusive practice across the school, ensuring that all pupils - particularly those with additional needs - are fully supported to achieve their potential. You will provide strategic direction to embed quality first teaching for SEND learners across the curriculum.

We are seeking someone who will:

  • be an outstanding teacher with a passion about inclusive practice and equality of opportunity
  • have the NPQ SENCO qualification
  • be innovative, imaginative and creative
  • be a team player
  • be committed to working in partnership with families, external agencies and pastoral leaders to remove barriers to learning
  • ensure high quality provision for students with SEND, and those requiring additional pastoral support

  • supportive Governors, parents and local authority
  • a well-resourced teaching environment
  • a school ethos where every child matters
  • happy, positive, lively children who want to achieve
