Full Job Description

We are looking for a Band 5 Clinical Technologist / Dosimetrist with some experience in radiotherapy treatment planning and/or mould room techniques to join our friendly team in the Radiotherapy Physics department at the Royal Derby Hospital. The post combines radiotherapy treatment planning and mould room activities. You will primarily be responsible for the production of external beam treatment plans but will also be required to undertake a full range of mould room tasks such as immobilisation shell fitting and the creation of lead shielding, customised tissue equivalent bolus and patient specific electron end-frame apertures. The Radiotherapy department has four networked Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators (2 of which have SGRT), CT scanner, Superficial Treatment Unit, HDR brachytherapy, and Eclipse Treatment Planning., To undertake computerised radiotherapy treatment planning for external beam. - To undertake a full range of Mould Room activities including the production of head & neck immobilisation shells, lead shielding, tissue equivalent bolus and electron applicator beam shaping inserts. - To assist in the training and education of the Therapeutic Radiotherapy and Radiotherapy Physics workforce in treatment planning and Mould Room techniques. - To participate in the development of treatment planning techniques at the direction of the Head of Treatment Planning.

The applicant should be from a Therapeutic Radiographer or Clinical Technologist background with a suitable scientific degree (or equivalent). The patient-facing aspect of the post requires that the applicant should be personable, patient and caring. If you are a Therapeutic Radiographer then you should be HCPC registered. Applicants from a Clinical Technologist background should ideally be on the voluntary register or should be appropriately qualified and prepared to work towards registration at the earliest opportunity.
