You will play an active role in developing best practice in a department committed to team working and continuous improvement, being a key part of the blood supply chain from donor to patient.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to undertake administration and clerical duties in support of Donor Records.

Typically, these duties will involve :-

To be responsible for managing the national donor safety checks from blood donor sessions, updating and maintaining donors details to ensure the continuous improvement in the quality of the donor database and producing routine medical correspondence.

To liaise with other departments and key stakeholders and external organisations.

To maintain records and collate and present data and statistics.

To be a critical safety check within the blood supply chain. Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues, including internal stakeholders & external organisations.

Liaise and communicate effectively with colleagues and other departments, outside agencies and professional bodies, in a mature and professional manner.

Record or communicate sometimes difficult information by telephone, email or paper correspondence, always ensuring confidentiality of information. This might include chasing information, missing information and responses from external organisations, presenting complex data, scheduling meetings, attending route cause analysis meetings, etc.

Act as first point of contact for a range of queries from managers and staff (both telephone- and e-mail-based)
