Full Job Description
A great opportunity has arisen to join Middlesbrough Council Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Team within Adult Social Care on a permanent full-time basis as a DoLS Authorising Signatory.
On behalf of the Supervisory Body, the post holder will be responsible for undertaking scrutiny and considering authorisation of standard Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) assessments. They will also act as the Best Interests Assessor Lead on quality assurance, demonstrating expertise in issues relating to the Mental Capacity Act by offering expert advice and mentoring to staff both within the DoLS Team and across the Local Authority.
The Practice Educator qualification is preferable for this post, however the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to achieve this qualification. depending on the needs of the service, the post holder may be expected to undertake best interests assessments.
DoLS Team members are passionate about protecting the human rights of the citizens of Middlesbrough and case work can be both challenging and rewarding.
Applications are invited from Best Interests Assessors/Registered Social Workers who have significant post qualifying experience in the MCA/DoLS and current professional registration with Social Work England.
