Dispensary Associate Healthcare Practitioner

My name is Charlotte Woodward, I am the Operational Manager of the John Radcliffe Pharmacy. I am privileged to lead our very hardworking, friendly, and committed Dispensary team in providing a dispensary service, supplying inpatient, outpatient, and discharge medication to Patients of the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford., We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Pharmacy Practitioner with a positive outlook to support our Dispensary team in ensuring that our patients receive the best service possible., The Pharmacy Practitioner role is varied, and requires flexibility in your approach to work, supporting both dispensary and stores functions on the John Radcliffe Hospital site. The successful applicant will be required to assist in the smooth running of an assigned area under direction of our Dispensary Co-ordinators and Senior Technicians. You will support the training of new members of the team, pharmacy apprentices, trainee technicians and pharmacists working alongside you. The duties of a Dispensary Practitioner include labelling and dispensing of discharge prescriptions, in-patient supplies, MDS dispensing and controlled drug requests, as well as providing the final check of medicines following successful completion of a nationally recognised Accredited Checking Dispensing Assistant qualification. Stores responsibilities include supporting ward and fluid top up services to clinical areas, receipting of deliveries and stock management procedures including expiry date checking, and processing of drugs returned from inside the hospital. We are lucky to be supported by ever evolving technology, with electronic prescribing and a robot to support the labelling and dispensing of medications. The successful applicant will be trained in the full use of the robotic system. The successful applicant will also answer the phone to our service users, and cover both staff and out-patient reception, requiring excellent customer service and communication skills.Working for our organisation The dispensary team is a friendly and hardworking team of 25 staff ranging from Apprentice Assistants through to band 7 Technicians. At the OUH we work to ensure clear pathways for career progression for level 2 qualified staff, this role provides the next step for experienced assistants, increasing job satisfaction, responsibility and leadership skills. This is a full-time dispensary based position, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, with working hours of 9am-5:15pm, however flexible working options would also be considered. You will also be required to participate in weekend working on a 1 in 6 rota basis, bank holiday, early and late duty rotas as per rota. This post would be ideal for a Pharmacy assistant with extensive experience in Hospital Pharmacy. The successful applicant will hold their NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services or equivalent qualification, and will be supported to work towards a nationally recognised checking assistant qualification and management qualification.,

• BTEC / NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services
• Hold an Accuracy Checking accreditation
• National Level 3 qualification in leadership and management (e.g. ILM Level 3 or similar)
• Pharmacy provision with extensive Dispensary experience.
• Experience of final accuracy checking post qualification.
• Utilisation of Pharmacy dispensing and Stock Management Computer Systems.
