Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join the team in the NOTSSCaN Division, as Directorate Manager for Specialist Surgery. The Directorate Manager (DM) in conjunction with the Clinical Director and support of the Matrons will be responsible the operational management of services across the clinical service units within Specialist Surgery. Working across organisational boundaries to make a positive contribution to the Trusts corporate objectives and contribute to shaping the future healthcare across the local economy., he post holder will provide high level leadership and strategic direction in conjunction with the Clinical Director. Responsible for delivery of key performance indicators, financial balance, the development and implementation of service improvements and engaging with teams to ensure best quality care is provided. The post holder will also be responsible for leading and delivering success across a number of key programmes within Specialist Surgery and the wider Division. These programmes will be vital in ensuring the Division can deliver its primary objectives and targets over the coming years and will encompass a wide range of topic, including productivity and efficiency, quality, workforce and clinical effectiveness.,
- Service Delivery and Development · Deliver financial balance across the Specialist Surgery Directorate through active and regular monitoring and management of expenditure. Develop a robust Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) that supports the Trust financial target. · Ensure Specialist Surgery Directorate deliver on the range of national and locally defined access targets and that patients are able to access the services delivered by the Department in a timely way. · Working as part of a team to provide high level leadership, efficient and effective day-to-day running of the Directorate. · Implement HR and governance strategies in order to achieve compliance with Trust policies and procedures, best practice, relevant legislation and regulatory provision. · Support the CD and Matron in the development and provision of a comprehensive, high quality patient centred service within the resources available. · Delivery of quality and safety standards across the Directorate. 2.2 Business Planning and Financial Management · In agreement with the CD formulate an effective and viable business plan for the Clinical Directorate, working to ensure that it conforms with the overall Clinical Directorate and Trust business plan and takes account of the demand for services from the Trust and local and national trends and developments. · Prepare the Annual Business Plan for the Directorate and contribute to the development and delivery of the Divisions clinical service and financial strategy. · Prepare monthly activity and trend reports for the Directorate to enable accurate forecasting of performance against key financial, service and quality targets and standards. · Prepare, in conjunction with the Directorate and Divisional teams, business cases for all aspects of the Clinical Directorates activities. · Advise and support the CD on the appropriate application of the Business Planning process and ensure it is communicated across the Directorate. · Coordinate the development of cost improvement plans for the Clinical Directorate. · To be accountable for delegated budgets within the Clinical Directorate and ensure the achievement of financial balance · Lead in the development and delivery of cost improvement programmes and manage expenditure within designated control levels. · Identify in conjunction with the CD and Matron all commissioning intentions and develop the business cases to support future developments. · Prepare monthly activity and trend reports for the Directorate to enable accurate forecasting of performance against key financial, service and quality targets and standards. + In conjunction with the Clinical Director and Matron provide strategic direction within the Specialist Surgery Directorate, identifying future resourcing requirements and ensuring that the Directorate meets contractual and other operational requirements. + In conjunction with the CD and Matron develop best practice, service modernisation and improvement plans for the area, to enhance the patient experience and deliver value for money., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
