Full Job Description

The group of Cardiac services here at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust encompasses Cardiology, Cardiothoracic surgery, Cardiac Physiology and Cardiac Rehab.

We operate a tertiary service, within a purpose-built Heart and Lung centre at New Cross Hospital. Opened in 2004, this was the UK's first distinct specialist heart centre within an acute hospital site. We are proud of our work, providing highly specialised, innovative care delivered by caring, positive and forward-thinking staff. We are one of few UK centres that have surpassed pre-Covid activity levels, whilst growing new technologies and developing staff with unique skill-sets.

This is a dynamic opportunity for the right person, offering excellent learning and development prospects, built on sound operational management experience. Your role will be to provide leadership and management support, including budgetary grip and controls, oversight of quality and safety, and helping teams shape future clinical services, underpinned by continuous improvement methodology. You will work alongside a triumvirate model consisting of Group Manager, Clinical Director(s) and senior matron.

Fostering a healthy staff culture is as fundamental to us as good clinical care, and we are looking for an individual who embodies our Trust values, including principles of civility, dignity and empathy through their work and approach., Provide business and operational management support to the Group Manager and Senior Matron In conjunction with the Group Manager, develop business plans for the directorate.

Identify opportunities for new markets and schemes to generate additional income.

Develop appropriate strategies for inclusion in the business plan to take full advantage of these opportunities.

In conjunction with the Group Manager, be responsible for the formulation and implementation of the long-term strategic plans for the directorate.

Work closely with the Group Manager to ensure that performance monitoring within the monitoring within the directorate is robust and that contractual targets and standards are achieved.

Work with the corporate accountant to provide appropriate financial and activity information to the directorate, and support the Group Manager in managing the delegated budgets.

Working closely with the Group Manager, ensure that quality standards, both agreed with commissioners and dictated by national policy, are achieved.

Establish local quality standards to improve patient care and directorate efficiency.

Identify and implement centralised functions across the directorate to generate cost and service efficiencies..
