Director of Strategic Procurement

If so, this could be the opportunity for you.Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, we're looking for a Director of Strategic Procurement to lead our procurement function and provide senior strategic oversight across a significant organisational spend portfolio.You'll be responsible for ensuring procurement activity delivers tangible outcomes, including value for money, regulatory compliance, supplier performance, commercial assurance, social value and measurable efficiencies across the business.Key Responsibilities:Develop and deliver the organisation's procurement strategy, ensuring clear
alignment with corporate objectives, financial plans and business prioritiesReport procurement performance, risks, opportunities and outcomes to senior leadership, providing clear insight and tangible conclusions from procurement activityLead the transformation of the procurement function, embedding best practice, robust governance, and continuous improvementOversee the delivery of strategic sourcing and procurement activity across a diverse portfolio including property, repairs, IT, professional services and corporate spendDrive commercial value through category management, cost optimisation, supplier performance and effective contract managementLead high-value, complex procurement exercises and negotiate major contracts and frameworksEstablish and embed Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) frameworks, ensuring suppliers deliver against agreed performance measuresEnsure procurement activity complies with the Procurement Act 2023, internal governance requirements and audit

standardsProvide strategic commercial advice to Executive and senior leaders, influencing organisational decision-makingDevelop procurement capability across the organisation through coaching, guidance and commercial leadershipMore about you:Degree educated (or equivalent experience) with MCIPS/CIPS qualificationSignificant senior procurement leadership experience, ideally at Head of or Director levelProven experience delivering procurement transformation programmes within complex organisationsStrong knowledge of UK public procurement legislation, including the Procurement Act 2023Demonstrable experience managing high-value, complex procurement and contract portfoliosStrong commercial acumen with the ability to deliver financial savings while maintaining quality and valueExcellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to operate confidently at Executive and Board levelProven leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing procurement
