Full Job Description

Engineering Delivery & Governance

  • Review and sign off engineering management estimates, risks, and deliverability (plans, RAID, schedule, technical debt) prior to Gate 3 reviews.
  • Review and approve mobilisation plans prior to IBR.
  • Act as an independent reviewer or chairperson for Technical Baseline Reviews and Design Reviews where independence can be demonstrated.
  • Ensure engineering risk is effectively managed across the business.
  • Lead and embed engineering mobilisation processes and workstreams that support the wider engineering strategy.
  • Own the engineering demand profile for the organisation and act as the IPT link for engineering.
  • Strategic Leadership
  • Identify opportunities to align delivery with wider engineering and business strategies.
  • Lead strategic initiatives including technical debt and improvement of organisational delivery maturity.
  • Support senior-level decision making and escalation as needed.
  • Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to Engineering Managers and Project Engineering Leads.
  • Influence and lead a broad range of stakeholders, internally and externally, including PMs, PELs, Engineering VP, and customer organisations.
  • Engage in tactical and strategic engineering discussions, including product development, resource planning, SIOP, and critical resource management.
  • Continuous Improvement & Process Excellence
  • Identify and drive improvements to processes, governance, tools, and delivery practices
  • Improve maturity of delivery organisation
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, quality, and innovation.

    Expertise in engineering delivery, integrating people, processes, and tools for successful outcomes.
  • Experience tailoring engineering delivery processes to optimise productivity and reduce risk, cost, and schedule.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and coach engineering leaders
  • Strong strategic mindset, able to build and deploy engineering delivery strategies aligned to business goals.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders across engineering, programme management and customer groups.
  • Qualifications / skills required
  • Degree level (or equivalent experience) in Engineering discipline.
  • Use of standard office tools and experience of engineering tools such as DOORS, UML tools, ERPs and Configuration Management tools.

  • Be organised and authoritative in delivery across multiple project and product teams, Typically, a Master Degree (or equivalent) in a related field and experience in a range of roles within a relevant complex engineering environment and leadership experience.
  • Required to maintain security clearance.
