Full Job Description

We are seeking a Director to join the industry-leading Strategy & Business Design team focused on serving law firms and corporate legal departments. Our Legal sector team is passionate about the transformation of legal services and the evolving needs of law firms and in-house legal functions. When it comes to operating model change, growth strategy, Agentic AI adoption and service innovation, we are at the centre of the action. The sector's challenges and opportunities are reshaping how legal work is delivered, priced and scaled. As a Director, you will be expected not only to lead the most critical client engagements, but also to shape our market position, build senior client relationships and originate opportunities that drive sustained growth. We undertake evidence-driven strategy assignments for leading law firms and corporate legal departments, developing solutions to their most challenging AI, strategic, operational and growth issues. We work closely with our colleagues across Transformation, Technology, Change and M&A driving the legal sector. Additionally, we act as a portal to enable our clients to draw on the breadth of Deloitte services across Consulting, Corporate Finance, Audit Advisory, Risk and Tax. In this role, you will be expected to convert market insight into client demand, deepen relationships with senior buyers and influencers, and play a leading role in bringing the full breadth of Deloitte to clients. If you have a strong track record of shaping and executing strategy, building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders at the Executive and Managing Partner level and growing a market-facing consulting business in the legal sector, we offer you an outstanding opportunity to play a leading role in an innovative and market-leading practice. Alongside leading complex client work, you will be expected to contribute materially to market development, thought leadership, proposition building and the development of our people. You will be leading strategic programmes for leading global law firms and in-house legal teams, while helping to define and grow Deloitte's position in the legal sector. The role requires a combination of exceptional client leadership, commercial judgement, market development and team leadership, supported by the breadth of the Deloitte platform.,

  • Client leadership - leading distinctive, high-impact client service through rigorous strategic problem solving, high quality recommendations and confident engagement with senior client stakeholders. The Director will be expected to oversee executive-level client relationships, shape the client agenda and lead the most important meetings and presentations;
  • Project, quality & risk leadership - directing complex programmes to deliver impact on time and to budget, while maintaining strong oversight of quality, risk and commercial performance;
  • People leadership - building, leading, coaching and developing teams within project delivery and across the practice, creating followership and recruiting capability for the future;
  • Relationship building - building and sustaining senior relationships across law firms, corporate legal departments and the wider legal ecosystem, as well as across Deloitte, to strengthen our market presence and create opportunities for collaboration and growth;
  • Market development and sales - playing a leading role in shaping our strategy for the legal sector, identifying priority opportunities, building external profile, developing and converting a pipeline of work, and leading major proposals and origination activity; and

    Working knowledge of the legal sector in the UK and ideally globally, including the strategic priorities, economics and competitive dynamics of law firms and in-house legal teams.
  • Significant experience in strategy consulting or in leading consulting-equivalent work with top tier clients
  • A proven ability to lead multiple complex strategic programmes and to act as a trusted adviser to senior client stakeholders;
  • A strong track record of market development, relationship building and converting opportunities into revenue, drawing on a credible external network and personal profile;
  • The ability to lead beyond client delivery, including taking ownership of practice development, proposition building, quality and risk, and the development of people and culture;
  • Additional desirable experience for the Director role includes:
  • Recognised expertise in one or more areas of the legal market, such as law firm strategy, legal operating models, legal technology, managed legal services or corporate legal department transformation.
  • A strong and relevant network across law firms, corporate legal departments and the wider legal ecosystem, with evidence of using relationships to create market opportunities;
  • Soft skills for the Director role includes:
