Full Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting with personal care.
- Help to keep the individual safe in the community due to no danger awareness.
- Assisting the individual with accessing activities and spending time out in the community.
- Helping the individual with mobility and to use Wheelchair.
- Attending/transporting the individual to social activities
- Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative. - Be patient, caring and understanding.
- Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
- Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
- Have previous experience supporting an individual with additional needs.
- Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
This is a temporary post for 8 hours during the school holidays only. About the recipient The individual is female, 9 years old and resides in Hessle. She enjoys being out in the community and visiting a variety of places, such as soft play centres, swimming pools, and theme parks. When visiting shopping centres, she particularly enjoys using lifts and escalators. She also likes going out for meals and has a varied taste in food, with a particular fondness for KFC. She benefits from having snacks available throughout the day. She is very sociable and enjoys spending time with people she knows and trusts. Her favourite programmes and music include The Wiggles, Mickey Mouse, and Peppa Pig. She can find waiting difficult at times and may become unsettled if she feels bored. At times, she may find it challenging to express how she is feeling and may show behaviours that indicate distress. However, with reassurance and support, she is usually able to settle again quickly.
