Full Job Description
A Personal assistant is required for 37 hours per week, or 2 PA's for 18.5 hours each.
He has experienced loss of speech and mobility and is currently working with specialist teams, making good progress in relearning how to talk and walk. He also has short-term memory loss.
Ongoing support is required to help him live more independently, particularly with mobility and the use of aids within the home. At present, he uses a manual wheelchair and is unable to self-propel, so a personal assistant is needed to support and move him while he is in the chair. There are plans for him to transition to an electric wheelchair; however, this has not yet been put in place.
Support duties will include assisting with transfers, including helping to keep his legs together during transfers, dressing, showering, and attempts to mobilise. Morning support will be required from approximately 8:30-9:00 am, with evening support needed until around 10:00-10:30 pm.
Experience in moving and handling is required.
Car driver is required, with own business insurance. Car must have room for the wheelchair.
The successful applicant will need to be flexible as some times may change due to appointment. Please specify on the application if you would prefer 37 hours per week, or 18.5 hours per week.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
