Diploma in Professional Studies Coordinator

We are looking for a part-time (0.5) fixed term Coordinator for our Diploma in Professional Studies (DPS), which is our optional industry experience year positioned between the second and third year of our undergraduate courses. During the year, students undertake a variety of activities to improve their employability in their chosen field, including placements and work-based learning projects.

This role will work alongside the existing DPS Coordinator (0.5) on a fixed term basis until 31 July 2027 to oversee the DPS course provision for the Media School. Your responsibilities will include course management, the monitoring and assessment of student progress, managing a team of industry mentors, and developing and maintaining relationships with a network of employers in the media and creative industries who can provide placement and collaborative work-based learning opportunities to our students.

You will work predominantly onsite at our Elephant and Castle campus for two and a half days a week, with the potential for hybrid working where appropriate.

Your profile

This is a role for someone who can integrate the needs of students, employers and the University in providing work-based learning opportunities for undergraduate students to support their employability.

You will bring experience of academic leadership, teaching, assessment and quality enhancement, alongside a strong understanding of trends and issues in UK Higher Education relating to student outcomes and employability.

You will have experience working with students and employers on work-based learning opportunities at scale and be a persuasive, inclusive, and thoughtful communicator, able to work confidently with students, colleagues, external partners, and wider professional communities.

You will have knowledge and experience of the media and creative industries, particularly in relation to the School's portfolio of courses in media, communications, journalism, publishing and photography.

As a coordinator of resources, you will have experience motivating teams and communities of practice, setting direction across functions, promoting collaboration across boundaries, managing budgets effectively, and managing complex projects, competing priorities, and demands, while always remaining focused on student outcomes and experience.
