Full Job Description

As a Dining Coordinator, you'll help make sure our residents have a great experience from choosing their meal right through to the last cup of tea! Your role will include:

  • Taking residents' meal orders and helping them make choices where needed, particularly residents living with dementia or other cognitive challenges.
  • Setting tables and creating a welcoming, comfortable and enjoyable dining environment.
  • Serving meals at the correct temperature and ensuring food is presented to a high standard.
  • Encouraging residents to enjoy their meals and offering suitable alternatives when needed.
  • Supporting residents with their individual dining preferences and requirements.
  • Delivering and collecting crockery, cutlery and other dining equipment.
  • Washing crockery, cutlery, cooking and serving utensils and kitchen equipment.
  • Keeping dining and kitchen areas clean, tidy and welcoming in line with COSHH and hygiene requirements.
  • Following all relevant health and safety, food hygiene and infection control procedures.
  • Working closely with the care team to make sure residents' individual needs, preferences and dietary requirements are understood and supported.
  • Working closely with the Head Chef and wider team to ensure mealtimes run smoothly.
  • Carrying out other reasonable duties as requested by the Home Manager or Head Chef.

Whether it's remembering that someone prefers their tea a certain way, helping a resident choose between two desserts or simply sitting down for a friendly chat, the little things can make a big difference.

  • Reliable, organised and able to work at pace when needed.

  • Previous experience of working in a similar position is essential to be successful
  • Previous experience in a care home environment is ideal, however candidates with a hotel/restaurant background are also encouraged to apply
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work in a team, a caring nature and a positive attitude
  • An understanding of Health and Safety, Infection Control and COSHH

    £12.71 per hour + 50p per hour weekend enhancement
