Digital Printer

The Digital Operator is responsible for supporting the daily digital print requirements of the HP Indigo digital press. The role requires a practical understanding of artwork, DFE file transfer processes, job information, and the technical and originations requirements needed to deliver work accurately, efficiently and in line with business targets. The post holder will contribute to the continued improvement of the Digital cell by monitoring performance, supporting consistent working practices and helping to maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, traceability and operational discipline., u2022 Measure operational performance against agreed targets, explain variances where targets are missed or improvements achieved, and take appropriate action where required.

\u2022 Ensure accurate records of performance and day-to-day activity are captured through shop floor data capture systems.

\u2022 Maintain records of completed and despatched work to support commercial traceability and accounting requirements.

\u2022 Organise workload and scheduling activity to maximise the operational performance of the Digital cell.

\u2022 Ensure the working area, equipment and maintenance routines are maintained in line with operational requirements and to the satisfaction of the Operations Manager.

\u2022 Support material profiling activity when required.

\u2022 Work with the Operations and Production Supervisor to prioritise worksheets for daily production and schedule activity accordingly.

\u2022 Enter production requirements onto the digital press as required.

\u2022 Manage material requirements to meet production needs.

\u2022 Request orders for replacement inks, primer and other press consumables as required to support continued production.

\u2022 Accurately enter job details into the shop floor data capture system.

\u2022 Support the digital print process by ensuring artwork, DFE files and job information are understood and prepared in line with production requirements.

\u2022 Communicate effectively with Originations, Technical and HP regarding press, artwork, DFE, job or process-related issues.

\u2022 Maintain records of all products and materials used in the production process to support traceability.

\u2022 Maintain the Digital cell area to the highest standards of housekeeping, organisation and operational discipline.

\u2022 Remain flexible and, where trained and competent, support other areas of the business as required.

\u2022 Demonstrate and answer questions relating to the Digital Press, artwork handling, DFE file transfer and associated technical/originations processes during visits from customers, prospects and intercompany visitors.

\u2022 Train others in the use of the Digital Press and associated artwork, DFE file transfer and technical/originations processes where required.

u2022 Minimum Level 1 HP training relevant to the HP Indigo digital press.

\u2022 Practical understanding of labels, digital print, artwork requirements, DFE file transfer and technical/originations processes.

\u2022 Ability to assess how a product has been produced and make a considered diagnosis of the process and requirements involved.

\u2022 Experience of working in a high-volume, low-unit-cost manufacturing environment.

\u2022 Ability to work effectively with others in a production environment.

\u2022 Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with production colleagues and site management.
