Developmental Physiotherapist - Spinal Interface Service (10-Month Fixed Term)
Are you an ambitious physiotherapist looking to develop advanced clinical skills in spinal care?
In collaboration with our MSK Physiotherapy partners, the Spinal Triage and Treat Service (of Dorset MSK) is excited to offer a 10-month developmental opportunity within our dynamic Spinal Interface Service. This post is designed for a motivated physiotherapist who is keen to expand their expertise in the assessment and management of complex spinal conditions within an integrated, multidisciplinary environment.
This is an excellent opening for a physiotherapist looking to take the next step towards enhanced and advanced practice within spinal care.
About the Role
There is opportunity to:
Develop advanced clinical reasoning in spinal assessment and diagnosis
Work alongside spinal surgeons, advanced practice clinicians, pain specialists, and multidisciplinary colleagues
Gain experience in interface working between primary and secondary care
Contribute to pathway development and service improvement initiatives
Enhance skills in triage, shared decision-making, and evidence-based management of spinal conditions
You will receive structured supervision, mentorship, and access to relevant training to support your progression over the 10-month period., As an MSK Practitioner , you will be supported to undertake independent assessments involving complex clinical decision making to plan, implement and evaluate care delivery according to changing healthcare needs and varying degrees of clinical risk.
There is a strong drive for quality improvement across the service and for the development and delivery of a robust clinical governance agenda. Therefore, you will become involved in activities to monitor and improve standards within the service.

To make the best of this opportunity the post holder is likely to need to work flexibly across different locations with some variation to start and finish times.
The role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

Has a strong interest in MSK and spinal conditions
Demonstrates excellent communication and clinical reasoning skills
Is motivated, proactive, and committed to professional development
Enjoys working collaboratively within a MDT.
At least 3 years experience in MSK experience is essential. Experience in spinal services is desirable but not required.
