Hertford College is a constituent college of the University of Oxford, known for its friendly community, progressive social agenda and a proactive approach to access.

The Development Officer will play an important role in supporting Hertford's alumni and fundraising operations, initially supporting a database migration and co-creating a strategy and best practise for data use. On an ongoing basis the Development Officer will also support the Head of Alumni and Donor Relations on the strategic design of Giving Days and telephone campaigns, and act as operational lead on their delivery. This may include creating emails, scripts, reports and other communications materials.

The Development team is a friendly, supportive and ambitious team. Our recent Giving Day set a new fundraising record for an Oxford college, and this is an exciting time to join the team and make a real difference as we plan a major fundraising campaign and review our alumni and regular giving programmes.

This is an exciting time to join Hertford following the appointment of our new Principal, Baroness Alexandra Freeman in March 2026. Right now, we are in the middle of the most significant building and renovation programme in a century on our main site and we have further ambitions to transform the college through a major new fundraising campaign.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of project management, experience of using a fundraising or other CRM database (and the ability to extract and manipulate data); be confident to work independently and flexibly as a member of a small team.

In return we offer a generous salary, pension scheme and a range of benefits as detailed in the Further Particulars.
