supporting both BBC Studios Scripted labels and internal teams to help shape our future scripted pipeline.WHY JOIN THE TEAMWorking to the Head of Scripted Development and supporting senior leaders, you will help recognise and drive development activity and IP opportunities across the business.With a clear passion for both drama and comedy, you will build relationships with internal and external partners, provide feedback on ideas, and distil projects to key selling points for succinct, impactful pitchesThis role offers exposure to a broad range of stakeholders across BBC Studios and the wider industry. It's an excellent opportunity for someone with either a scripted development or commercial background at Manager level to work across a world-class scripted pipeline and develop their career in an organisation which is constantly growing and evolvingKEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Collaborate with the Head of Development to align the BBC Studios Scripted pipeline with global business and customer needs
  • Independently manage and maintain internal strategy presentations, IP reports and development trackers for senior leaders, internal meetings and any other adhoc reporting as required
  • Support development teams by providing feedback on treatments, scripts, and ideas, focusing on commissioning potential and global appeal
  • Offer market intel and editorial advice early in the development process to shape projects for global success
  • Work closely with internal teams (Scripted Commercial, Insights, Business & Legal Affairs) at various stages of development as well as deputising for the Head of Development when needed
  • Manage relationships and secure new IP by working with rights holders, literary scouts, producers, and agents
  • Proactively build relationships with new and established independent companies, writers and creatives, briefing on BBC Studios Scripted needs

    Relevant experience within scripted TV development at a production company, studio, platform or broadcaster, with an understanding of trends and insights which can help shape scripted projects from an early stage
  • Ability to keep abreast of new writers and up and coming on-screen talent
  • Clear understanding of the global TV market, including knowledge of the UK and international commissioning landscapes, especially BBC Group channels such as BBC Network, UKTV & BritBox
  • Proven editorial skills to identify strong ideas, scripts and IP which have the potential to attract customers and commissioners
  • Ability to manage confidential information across multiple departments and to keep stakeholders updated
  • Confident and curious manner when developing new relationships via networking opportunities, industry events or research
  • DESIRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:
  • Knowledge of programme production processes would be beneficial; in particular issues facing the production business and a good understanding of challenges in the current financial environment

    PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £50,000 - £55,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
