Full Job Description
We are a large, busy and ambitious secondary school where Design Technology is a thriving and highly popular subject across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. Students study a broad range of creative and practical subjects at both GCSE and A Level, and we are looking to appoint a Design Technology Technician to support the continued success of our faculty.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive team, working alongside our existing Design Technician who currently supports Product Design and Engineering. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience or an interest in Food and/or Textiles, although full training will be provided.
About the Role
Working within our Design Faculty, you will play a key role in supporting both staff and students to ensure learning is engaging, safe and effective. The role is varied and rewarding, combining practical preparation, administrative support and direct student interaction.
Key responsibilities will include:
Preparing materials, ingredients, equipment and resources for practical lessons
Supporting students during practical activities and small-group work
Assisting with the recording, presentation and sharing of coursework where appropriate
Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the faculty, including ordering resources and equipment
Communicating with staff, students and parents as required
Producing teaching and learning resources
Ensuring all activities are carried out safely and effectively
Supporting educational visits and trips

Be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
Work effectively as part of a team whilst also being an independent problem solver
Be organised, adaptable and able to multi-task in a busy environment
Possess good administration and ICT skills
Have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills
Share our commitment to supporting and inspiring young people through education
