Enable Futures, a multi-award-winning Apprenticeship Employer, are partnering with Alan Wood and Partners, a specialist engineering and consultancy firm, to recruit a Design, Surveying and Planning Apprentice to join their team.



About the Employer

Enable Futures, award-winning Shared/Flexi Job apprenticeship service will support you through your apprenticeship journey and professional development. We employ our apprentices directly and are listed on the Flexi Job Apprenticeship Register. We work with hosts in Yorkshire and the North East to provide apprentices in the construction and civil engineering industry.



What You'll Do

  • Apply sound civil engineering knowledge, principles and practical techniques to support the planning, design and construction of engineering projects
  • Gather, interpret and evaluate technical data and information to inform engineering decisions, develop solutions and contribute to accurate civil engineering models and designs
  • Use industry-standard digital tools, including CAD and BIM software, to produce, update and review technical drawings, 3D models and engineering information in line with recognised standards, conventions and terminology
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety and welfare across all civil engineering activities, following relevant legislation, company procedures and risk management requirements
  • Assist with the development, refinement and delivery of practical civil engineering solutions, ensuring that designs and technical outputs comply with applicable legislation, industry standards, specifications, codes of practice and project requirements
  • Incorporate environmental responsibility and sustainability into engineering activities, identifying opportunities to reduce carbon emissions, minimise waste and resource consumption, and support more sustainable project outcomes
  • Organise and manage your own workload effectively, delivering work to agreed quality, programme and cost requirements while considering client expectations, available resources and the wider impact of engineering decisions
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with colleagues, clients, contractors and other stakeholders, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the delivery of civil engineering projects
  • Maintain accurate technical records and documentation, ensuring information is clear, consistent, traceable and suitable for use throughout the project lifecycle
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge and professional skills, keeping up to date with changes in legislation, engineering standards, technology and best practice
