Full Job Description

Performance-driven professional Mechanical Design Engineer with over 11 years of rich & extensive experience in design & development of Aircraft Cabin Interiors & Structural components.

  • Responsible for the design and detail modelling of a variety of suite components in order to meet programme requirements.
  • Experience in CAD design tool CATIA V5& V6, Capital Harness XC, VeSys.
  • Produce designs to meet specified cost/weight targets.
  • Design Engineers will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers.
  • Participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process.
  • The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element.
  • Ensure the successful integration of each design element within the product as a whole.
  • Check engineering packages
  • Participate in the validation of the product (using such methods as prototyping, test, DFMEA)
  • Experienced mainly within wire harness and its components.
  • Providing concept designs in the initial stages of the product development.
  • Taking a lead in the Design reviews with local and international teams with the concept designs and working towards the final design approval.
  • Analysing the risks involved in the initial stages by performing DFMEA and prioritizing according to the level of risk.
  • Performing the Root Cause analysis on the failures at the assembly and sub assembly levels and figuring out ways to solve those occurred or potential failures.
  • Attend design meetings with signatories/authorities to determine requirements.
  • Ensure the timely distribution of all relevant drawings and technical information
  • PLM to ensure production targets and budgets are achieved in accordance with the overall programme.
  • Coordinate consultants to produce engineering drawings to achieve technical approvals from the local authorities
  • To manage internal and external audit scheduling across the company. This will also involve completing some internal system and process audits against ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 as applicable to site scope to verify system compliance and maintain current certification. To carry out Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities as required including preparation and compilation of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation (ISIRs, FAIRs, Process Control Plans, etc) as required by customers. Able to assist in the programme planning and management of all production programmes and liaise with all departments as appropriate Advising the mechanical (chassis) engineering team on the physical layout of wiring harness and associated electrical systems on the vehicle. Transferring this information into Vesys 2.0 2D harness layout drawings and synchronising with circuit designs. Tracking of project electrical issues, risks, actions and interfacing directly with the
  • project managers, manufacturing departments and chassis / powertrain / systems teams. Maintaining timing plan of electrical team deliverables against overall project stage-gates. Chairing internal electrical team meetings reviewing status of assigned projects.
  • Work with existing worldwide suppliers and identify potential new suppliers to ensure timely introduction of new components and harnesses. Continual improvement to advance supplier relations, design procedures, advise best practice and improve quality and efficiency.
  • Design of components and parts
  • Build and manage complex 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings
  • Produce, where required, engineering evidence to back detail design decisions in the form of technical reports, specifications and studies
  • Clear evidence of personal tracking of own quality and cost performance

  • Expertise in Design optimisation, Reverse Engineering and Value Engineering
  • Experience in Reverse Engineering, Concept design & development-Aircraft Interiors
  • Experience as Modelling & Drafting Quality checker
  • Expertise includes working on Incorporation of Engineering Concessions, Design query note, Engineering changes
  • Excellent working knowledge in CATIA V5/V6 (Part modelling, Generative shape design, Generative Sheet metal design, Aerospace Sheet Metal design, FTA, Assembly & Drafting) and GD&T
  • Good Working knowledge in Solid works modelling, configurations and drafting
  • Comprehensive knowledge on flight testing procedures
  • Preferred Knowledge & Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical/structural Engineering or Equivalent Degree.
  • Wiring Harness expertise is a mandatory.
  • Good knowledge of Forging, casting and Machining processes.
  • GD&T and tolerance chain stack-ups
  • Materials selection
  • DFM and lean manufacturing
  • PLM (Project Life Cycle management) and PLM tools Smart team and Team Centre.
