An exciting opportunity has arisen on The Alnwick Ward at Alnwick Community Hospital. We require a Deputy Ward Manager to join our team. The ward is an innovative and forward thinking, bedded Care of the Elderly Ward.

We are looking for candidates who have a commitment to ensuring safe and high-quality care is delivered to our patients, as well as being a role model and supporting our junior workforce. The ward has a strong focus on multidisciplinary team working, to ensure safe and timely patient discharges or transfers to appropriate care settings.

You will be expected to work as part of a dynamic nursing team, delivering all aspects of care to patients and have excellent communication skills. As part of this role you will be required to coordinate the ward and also support the Ward Manager. The successful candidate will gain a wide range of clinical and managerial experience. Previous experience in a similar setting is desirable, but not essential.

The successful post holder must be able to role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the Trust., The main purpose of the role is to assist, plan and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the ward manager.

You will also be responsible for the organizing and co-ordination of the nursing services in the absence of the ward manager, lead a team of nurses and be innovative.

The successful post holder must be able to be a role model, compassionate and show inclusive leadership skills. This is to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate.
