Full Job Description

The post holder will provide visible clinical leadership and be a point of escalation and role model for the other registered nurses within the department. The successful candidate will assist the outpatient department manager with managerial duties including, but not limited to, ensuring safe staffing across all three outpatient sites with consideration for skillsets; rostering and absence management; PADRs; recruitment selection; incident response etc. Additionally, the post holder will be required to support with the development and maintenance of staff clinical competencies within the department to ensure safe and effective care is being delivered, optimise service delivery and support staff professional development.

  • 1st level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Evidence of consistent professional and educational development
  • BSc. Nursing, Health or management related studies or above or equivalent, or evidence of ability to work at that level
  • Desirable
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Recognized Management Qualification or relevant management experience
  • Experience Essential
  • Significant post registration experience across a range of clinical specialties
  • Leading service development or change
  • Teaching /mentorship experience
  • Leadership and/or management development training
  • Complex problem solving
  • Desirable
  • Caring for patients with tracheostomy or laryngectomy
  • Knowledge and Expertise Essential
  • Understanding of the political and strategic health agendas including the impact of such at operational level
  • Innovative and enthusiastic
  • High level negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to cultivate positive relationships with teams to enable effective communication at times of significant operational pressure
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-range goals
