We have a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Team Manager to join our Adult Mental Health team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Deputy Team Manager to help lead our Adult Mental Health Service - someone who champions strengths-based practice, supports staff wellbeing and is passionate about high-quality, person-centred social work. Our team provides dedicated support for individuals living with mental health diagnoses, as well as their families and carers. We're committed to promoting independence, choice and control, and ensuring people can access Self-Directed Support where they're eligible for social care services. What the role involves:
- Helping to lead a dynamic social care team, shaping high-quality support for adults across the borough.
- Taking charge of a small, complex caseload (including forensic cases), using your expertise to make a real difference.
- Guiding and motivating staff, boosting confidence, skills and best practice.
- Making smart, impactful decisions in fast-moving situations.
- Working closely with partners and colleagues to deliver joined-up, meaningful support.
- Driving improvements and championing high standards across the service. The role also involves undertaking AMPH duties as required. We're looking for someone who:
- Has an enabling, person-centred approach, which promotes independence.
- Communicates clearly and professionally, building positive relationships with partners, families and carers.
- Brings solid social work expertise, with a strong understanding of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding practice.
- Leads and motivates others, providing guidance, support and high-quality supervision.
- Is highly organised, able to prioritise workloads, respond to urgent situations and maintain high standards under pressure., Accuracy and Use of AI Tools: You must ensure that anything submitted in your application is factually accurate.
