Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit an experienced Scrub Theatre Practitioner to work 37.5 hours, across 7 days, including night shifts. Here on the Wigan site we undertake adult and paediatric elective and emergency surgery the candidate would need a wide range of speciality experience including ENT, Dental, Urology, Gynaecology, Colo-rectal, General surgery, both open and laparoscopic techniques, Orthopaedic Trauma and Obstetrics. Our theatre teams work closely with some of the region's leading consultants and are exposed to the latest innovative, evidence -based clinical techniques The successful candidate needs to be a hard working, dynamic and committed individual with a sound understanding of Urology services but with a wide range of experience within the surgical specialities, demonstrating sound leadership skills, principles, which reflect an awareness of local/national policies.

  • Demonstrate budgetary control, order requests for supply of materials required within agreed budget.
  • Engaging the theatre team to ensure effective and efficient use of funded theatre time
  • Adhere to Trust policies and maintenance of the professional Code of Conduct, Assist in the management of the day to day resources to enable the support and assistance of the multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of all aspects of patient care and accept the responsibility and accountability for the performance outcomes
  • Participation in managing effectively and clearly identifying what is required of others, setting goals and targets and providing accurate feedback on performance roles and responsibilities.
  • To maintain a supportive learning environment enabling the team to meet the evolving needs of the service, assist in budgetary and stock control to ensure the provision of a high quality and cost effective service.
  • To provide a high standard of patient care and skilled expert assistance in all specialities and areas as required.
  • Act as an ambassador for the department in professional settings.
  • Be accountable for the standards of practice within the theatre team promoting a professional patient centred approach to care.
  • Recognises the appropriateness of transferable skills when providing individualised patient care.
  • Identifying, maintaining and improving the quality of care through facilitation of evidence based practice.
