Full Job Description
We have vacancies for a vacancy for a secondment, full-time, Deputy Team Leader RN/ODPs with Scrub experience for West Wing Children Theatres, Operating Theatre Department (NOTSSCaN Theatres). This theatre complex is a 14-theatre unit with 3 theatres catering to Paeds General and Orthopaedic theatres. The applicants are required to be flexible and lead the scrub teams. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated staff to join the current JR and West Wing theatre team. Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of 2 years of extensive experience in scrub and have completed an equivalent practice supervisor/assessor course. Applicants should ideally have a specialist qualification for their area of practice or be willing to undertake this. Applicants must have excellent communication, negotiating and effective leadership skills to thrive in a busy team environment. You will be encouraged and supported to further develop using the learning opportunities available. There is a structured orientation program and appraisal system in place to support your development whilst being supported by your team leader and education team. The directorate has a comprehensive education strategy to underpin the development of all grades of staff within theatres to facilitate career development and progression.,
- Registered Nurse/ODP
- Holds a degree and has evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an ongoing NMC/HCPC revalidation
- Minimum of 2 years experience in radiology with scrub experience (must have both)
- Evidence of achievement of the Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor course or Transition to Practice Assessor
- Qualification related to area of practice
- NHS experience Desirable criteria
- Post graduate qualification related to area of practice, Excellent communication skills.
- Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate
- Demonstrates ability to maintain and contribute to the development of standards of practice, conduct or decision making in conjunction with team leaders/unit coordinator.
- Acts as a role model and are able to lead by example to ensure the Trust's values and behaviours are reinforced throughout their area of practice.
- Able to supervise non-registered and less experienced staff to ensure effective care delivery
- Able to effectively and appropriately escalate concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety. Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of managing clinical incidents and complaints.
- Previous experience in the relevant specialty
- Previous substantive management experience of specific clinical area, Being self-aware and able to accept constructive criticism
- Resilient under pressure

- Able to communicate effectively with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Able to proactively contribute to the education of learners and non-registered and less experienced staff
- Demonstrates ability to manage, direct and evaluate the nursing care for a defined caseload of patients
- Competent to administer intravenous medicines, Understanding of professional and current issues related to area of practice
- Demonstrates ability to keep up to date with professional issues that influence perioperative practice relating to the area of clinical practice, management education and research
- Able to identify own learning needs and ensure own professional development is maintained by keeping up to date with practice developments
- Able to lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies/protocols/guidelines relevant to area of practice.
- Demonstrates ability to question and challenge nursing practice in a constructive way so that standards of patient care are continually evaluated and improved.
