Deputy Team Leader / Senior Recovery Practitioner

To act as the patient's advocate during the perioperative period of care To be responsible for anticipating and providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team To participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care Follow Codes of Professional Practice providing high quality and safe care to patients undergoing procedures within the Perioperative environment

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated staff to join the amazing senior WW Recovery team. Applicants will be expected to have at least 3 years of extensive experience in Recovery or Critical Care and have completed an equivalent practice supervisor/assessor course. Applicants must have excellent communication, informed negotiating, and effective leadership skills to thrive in a busy team environment. You will be encouraged and supported to further develop using the learning opportunities available. There is a structured orientation programme and appraisal system in place to support your development whilst being supported by your team leader and education team. The directorate has a comprehensive Education Strategy to underpin the development of all grades of staff within theatres, to facilitate career development and progression.,

• Registered Nurse (Part 1. 8. 12 or 15 of register depending on area of practice), ODP HCPC registration or National certification in area of Practice.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of an ongoing NMC/HCPC revalidation
• Minimum of 3 years experience in Recovery/ or Critical Care
• Evidence of achievement of a NMC or HCPC approved Mentorship qualification.
Desirable criteria
• UK recognised Degree in Nursing relevant to post or equivalent qualification for ODPs
• Post-graduate qualification related to an area of practice, Excellent communication skills.
• Able to prioritise own workload and that of others as appropriate
• Demonstrates ability to maintain and contribute to the development of standards of practice, conduct or decision making in conjunction with team leaders/unit coordinator.
• Acts as a role model and are able to lead by example to ensure the Trust's values and behaviours are reinforced throughout their area of practice.
• Able to supervise non-registered and less experienced staff to ensure effective care delivery
• Able to effectively and appropriately escalate concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety.
Desirable criteria
• Previous experience of managing clinical incidents and complaints.
• Previous experience in the relevant specialty
• Previous substantive management experience of specific clinical area, Being self-aware and able to accept constructive criticism
• Resilient under pressure, Able to demonstrate the ability to put patients at the heart of what you do and recognising different needs by encouraging a spirit of support, integrity, respect and teamwork.

Clinical PracticeEssential criteria
• Articulate and knowledgeable of skills needed to deliver a high standard of care in the area of practice.
• Able to work under own initiative within boundaries of role
• Demonstrates awareness of importance of working as part of a team.
• Able to document observations, results, decisions and actions etc. effectively in patient's notes and communicate these effectively to appropriate members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Able to communicate effectively with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Able to proactively contribute to the education of learners and non-registered and less experienced staff
• Demonstrates ability to manage, direct and evaluate the nursing care for a defined caseload of patients
• Competent to administer intravenous medicines
• Lead link practitioner for specific area of practice, Understanding of professional and current issues related to area of practice
• Demonstrates ability to keep up to date with professional issues that influence perioperative practice relating to the area of clinical practice, management education and research
• Able to identify own learning needs and ensure own professional development is maintained by keeping up to date with practice developments
• Able to lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies/protocols/guidelines relevant to area of practice.
• Demonstrates ability to question and challenge nursing practice in a constructive way so that standards of patient care are continually evaluated and improved.
• Work effectively within a team demonstrating effective leadership at all times
Desirable criteria
• Recognition as having abilities for innovation within their sphere of practice, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
