Full Job Description
· To support the Patient Access Manager in meeting all Patient Access local and national targets for all patients. · To deputise for the Patient Access Manager in their absence representing the Directorate at External, Trust and Directorate level meetings · To ensure effective utilisation of the Oxford Heart Centre Inpatient department overseeing the Cardiology patient access team.
- Have direct line management responsibility for 3 managers including administration/secretarial services related to elective patients within the Directorate. · The post holder will be responsible for the supervision, training and development of A&C staff across the Cardiothoracic Directorate.Main duties of the job · Deputise when required for the Patient Access Manager as Directorate expert in relation to the Trust's Waiting List and Access Policy and EPR Data Quality. · In conjunction with the Validation Clerk and Patient Access team manage the Inpatient PTL and ensure Validation is undertaken monthly of all patients on the PTL. · To be responsible for the provision of the Directorate policy for Overseas Patients and patients that require specific authorisation for procedures. · Provide managerial support to the Patient Access Manager and act as deputy when required on day-to-day operational issues. · Maintain excellent working relationships with Consultant Cardiologists, Nursing\Clinical teams, Directorate A&C team and the Directorate Management team. · Liaise with the Trust Patient Access Team when required to provide information and reports in relation to patient access. · Liaise with Trust Directorate Management team, deputising for the Patient Access Manager, in regard to specific cases of patient need for access. · Work closely with the Patient Access Manager and Directorate Manager on any new and on-going projects, as and when required. · With the Patient Access Manager develop improvement programmes within the areas of responsibility consistent with the Trust and Directorate vision., · Deputise when required for the Patient Access Manager as Directorate expert in relation to the Trust's Waiting List and Access Policy and EPR Data Quality. · In conjunction with the Validation Clerk and Patient Access team manage the Inpatient PTL and ensure Validation is undertaken monthly of all patients on the PTL. · To be responsible for the provision of the Directorate policy for Overseas Patients and patients that require specific authorisation for procedures. · Provide managerial support to the Patient Access Manager and act as deputy when required on day-to-day operational issues. · Maintain excellent working relationships with Consultant Cardiologists, Nursing\Clinical teams, Directorate A&C team and the Directorate Management team. · Liaise with the Trust Patient Access Team when required to provide information and reports in relation to patient access. · Liaise with Trust Directorate Management team, deputising for the Patient Access Manager, in regard to specific cases of patient need for access. · Work closely with the Patient Access Manager and Directorate Manager on any new and on-going projects, as and when required. · With the Patient Access Manager develop improvement programmes within the areas of responsibility consistent with the Trust and Directorate vision., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification/training or experience
- Minimum of three years first line management experience.
- Detailed knowledge of waiting list management and associated systems (EPR, PAS PTL EPM)
- Ability to work to tight deadline. Desirable criteria
- At least five years varied experience working in the NHS.
- Evidence of team working, building and leading
- Dealing with a Senior Management Team, Experience of working with clinicians and other health care professionals.
